from GAABSE? 

The Garland Area Alliance of Black School Educators provides a $500 scholarship anually to each of the seven area GISD high schools: 

                * Garland High School

                * Lakeview High School

                * Naaman Forest High School

                * North Garland High School

                * Rowlett High School 

                * Sachse High School

                * South Garland High School

The minimum qualifications are as follows:

• Of African-American descent.

• A graduating senior in the Garland Independent School District.

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in the field of Education.

• A competitive GPA.

SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES LETTER

2008 - 2009 GAABSE Scholarship Recipients are:

Scholarship Ball 

GAABSE hosts a black-tie Scholarship Ball annually. The purpose of the Scholarship Ball is to raise money to award scholarship checks to deserving graduating African-American high school seniors in the Garland Independent School District. The goal for this year is to award seven, $500 scholarship checks to aid in lessening the burden of financing an education in today's world.

Two students are selected fromthe Garland Independent School District to receive this honor. The students are informed of this honor during an awards assembly held typically in March of each year. It is then the students responsibility to provide

GAABSE with an invoice proving enrollment in a educational institution with a major field of study in the area of Education. If proof of this is not received by GAABSE no later than August 15th of that year, all scholarship monies will be forfeited.
